At St Thomas’s Church Hall

1.      Welcome – M Baber welcomed all those present.

2.      Apologies – received from B Oliver, E McCormick, J Pearce

3.      Minutes of last meeting – the minutes were read by M Baber.  Adoption proposed by H Huntley, seconded by R Hart, none against.  Please note that members of the Town Council present are not members of CAR and did not vote on any occasion.

4.      Matters arising – the responses from the survey held by the Chamber of Commerce are now being analysed and will be available for the next meeting.

5.      Website – Ada McCormick gave a demonstration of the website.  B Ireland will look after the site once it is up and running.  It is looking very workable – many thanks to those who have worked on it.  Can we have a membership form on the site which can be downloaded.  Membership details will not be on the website.  The Chamber of Commerce is to create its own website.

6.      Meeting with the mayor and deputy mayor 11 January and town council meeting 17 January 2006 – J Pearce and M Baber met J Finch and B Grills on 11 January to discuss our proposal for a conciliation meeting.  B Grills gave us insight into why the car park was made pay and display.  It was agreed that conciliation would take place if other councillors agreed.  This was agreed at the town council meeting on 17 January 2006 and a meeting has been arranged for 9.30 am on 24 January.  J Pearce and M Baber will represent CAR, J Finch and B Grills will represent the Town Council, 2 representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and one from the Town Trust.  The purpose of this meeting, with a conciliator, is to try to get groups together and find a way forward.  Some compromise may be necessary.  H Huntley asked what compromise.  M Baber said that any decision would need to be agreed by the Town Council.  No decisions will be made on the day, but ideas put to our members.  Possibly a public meeting at some point if needed.

Road closures in Camelford between 5 February and 5 March, each week on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

7.      Car Park Review – The Town Council is going to review the car park, as promised.  This will take place at a meeting of the Car Park Sub Committee on 22 February.  The public can attend this meeting as observers and notices will be posted in the town.  Any representations, for or against car park charging, should be sent to the town clerk no later than 17 February 2006.  H Huntley said that Liskeard is having a hard time since the introduction of pay and display.  Sec to contact Liskeard Chamber of Commerce (done).

8.      Report from Town Forum meeting 18 January – Robert Hancock, Area Manager for the pedestrianisation work being carried out, is available to discuss any areas of concern.

9.      Fireworks and fundraising – C Ireland read out what was needed for the organisation and some ideas for fundraising.  The Fireworks Committee is M Baber, J Harman, E McCormick, M Baber, R Ireland and C Ireland (sec).  J Tarring to be asked for previous correspondence.  M Williams said that in the past we have raised money for the following year.  Please talk to a member of the committee with ideas for fundraising and help with any aspect.
