Minutes of the
meeting held on 15 December 2005
At St Thomass
Church Hall
1. Welcome M Baber welcomed all those present and thanked Brenda Oliver for the use of the Church Hall, and the heating on this very cold night.
2. Apologies received from M Stockwood and J Pearce
3. Matters Arising adoption of the minutes of 24 November 2005 was proposed by B Oliver, seconded by H Huntley, all those voting were in favour. Please note that members of the Town Council present are not members of CAR and did not vote on any occasion.
Report from Chamber of Commerce the responses to the questionnaire are now known. 83% of those responding had seen a downturn in business. Only 3 replies said that there was no change in trade. No response said that business had improved. There was a total of 19 replies. The co-op was not included should it have been. Results will be reported to the Town Forum.
4. Report from Executive meeting 5 December letter sent to Town Council about the conduct of the Mayor at the Forum meeting could result in a local Disciplinary Hearing, when a comparison will be made between the behaviour alleged by CAR and the minutes of the Forum meeting.
Meeting with NCDC following letter from NCDC offering to fund and arbitrate at a meeting between the Town Council and Car a reply to be sent to include the Chamber of Commerce, Town Trust and the Town Forum.
Fireworks 2006 email received in reply to CARs asking for information, giving chapter and verse. This event will remain a Forum project, but members will be asked if they would like to help fund raise for this event.
Development Action Plan reviewed by Town Council copy now available for all to see.

5. Matters arising from Executive meeting
Letter re Mayor awaiting ratification of Forum minutes
Meeting with NCDC letter sent as above, NCDC to invite bodies to participate.
Fireworks 2006 to take up with Forum at next or January meeting

Frequency of meetings monthly on third Thursday of each month.
6. Correspondence dealt with elsewhere.
7. Any other business H Huntley whose letter to the Council suggesting that they are there undemocractically and should resign has been replied to by the town clerk. The final paragraph Huw found most derogatory it suggested that Huw runs for council himself. Huw thanked those members of the council present at the meeting.
M Baber is due to go to Downing Street soon with a petition for the distributor road with 2500 signatures, with J Finch, D Rogerson and Alison ? (Valley Truckle). She asked if the meeting felt there was any conflict of interest. Nobody did think that.
B Lush asked if we want to say or do anything about the water poisoning and the new evidence which is coming to light, which has resulted in the report being suspended. It was thought that we should monitor the situation and wait until things become clearer.
