To the Camelford Town Council,

I believe it is time this council stopped blighting the properties of those residents who live on the proposed path of the now defunct Camelford bypass scheme. This is a lost cause and we should not be wasting the councils time, and lowering the residents property prices any longer in a futile and blatant electioneering attempt on behalf of the Mayor and her cronies who hopefully will only have another six months in office.

Is the petition with one thousand names on it, the one collected last Easter from tourists in the traffic jam while the pavements and road works were causing problems in Camelford?

Does this petition actually have any Camelford residents names on it?

And if so how many?

May I point out this Town Council is (supposedly) elected (although none of you have been elected for the last 12 years) to represent the residents of Camelford and not tourists passing through the town.

If any of you really cared about the residents living along the main road, the shopkeepers and the people living near the proposed bypass route you would be attempting a more productive course of action.

May I suggest it would be far more worthwhile to turn our efforts towards having the road past the Camelford Showground upgraded and having the heavy lorries directed around Camelford via that route. An objective that could well be achieved in the short term.

I understand that this idea will not free a nice big chunk of agricultural land for building and industrial development and won’t be so popular with the “good old boys”.
